Lancia Ypsilon

I always liked the Ypsilon.
The next gen to this one is especially great I think, it’s really classy, especially for a city car.
The new one, however... Ew.

Lancia hasn’t had dealerships in the U.K. for a while so t he Lancia Ypsilon newer one was marketed as the Chrysler Y psilon here in the U.K. they didn’t sell well. And of course, Chrysler is no more here either.

At least Chrysler seems to be a good equivalent to the Lancia brand, no?
I wish Lancia made a comeback. Seems unlikely.

Not really. British car buyers are a very stuck bunch (Skoda still has a bad name to many, even though they’ve won so many awards and been VW owned for well over two decades), so Brits aren’t that into U.S. marques as they are seen as tacky, plasticy, poor handling, use lots of fuel, etc...
Where Lancia would of also had a struggle due to the brand being dead here for some years, but likely would of sold better as Lancia, sold at Fiat dealerships.
I love old 1950s Lancias, more recent ones are still quite nice but not for me.

Someone is clearly broken as I would happily hoon that...

That looks like a Chinese made hatchback...

To many Brits, Chrysler it may just as well of been.

Yes! I always loved the first-gen Ypsilon! Such cool little car
s and they had some cool Alacantra interiors in awesome colors, like
BRIGHT TEAL! :D
They were also Punto-based, so pretty reliable!

That may be the newest thing Chrysler has sold anywhere.

A Jalop reads this post and goes, “ooh, small car that isn’t pretentious and is actually un iq ue!”
Everyone else reads this comments, says, "ew I hate it why is it so small ew gross ugly ew not a name brand ugh" and leaves.

Chrysler pulled out of Europe, 2011 and the U.K. and Ireland in 2017.
Probably the newest and last here.

Then the Pacifica is a little newer. Why on earth Chrysler is the brand chosen to cater to Europe I have no idea.

Sounds about accurate! I wouldn’t mind importing one someday! They have unique styling without being ‘in your face’ about it!

And Lancias are known for their rust protection, right? Right? Right?

Didn’t get that one here. Europe already had a load of MPVs And people carriers.
Chysler bought out three or so British and European car companies and established Chrysler Europe (I can't remember when, 1970s-1980s?)

They are great vans and have comfortable upscale interiors, but may be a little larger than what most European families want. There are much more compact ways to seat 7.
The American minivan is quite large. I’ve always found “people carrier” to be a hilariously straightforward way to say the same thing.

Well....this one, in particular,
is! They don’t seem to rust too badly! :D
